If I Weren’t Handicapped
By-Amanda D. Petty
If I
weren’t handicapped, would you remember me as easy?
If I was famous, you’d recall me, right?
What’s the difference, if I’m in a chair or
if I’ve got money?
TALK TO ME and not my family.
You don’t realize how hurtful that really
is.
If I weren’t disabled, you would talk to
me?
You just assume that I
won’t understand you.
Ok, I’ll comprehend, if you treat me that
way,
I’ll do it to YOU the same way.
Feel good, right?
Well then, don’t think that way because I
am not stupid.
I do see you, hear you, and understand you.
If I didn’t have wheels, would you memorize
me as easy?
If I was a big star, you’d consider me,
right?
What’s the difference, if I can’t walk or
if I’ve got some green?
