Pretty Pettyâs Poem for the Disabled
Hello Pretty Pets, how are you doing?
Let us introduced ourselves: weâre Amanda D. Petty and Eric Brown, and weâre poets. This is a very special issue or version that weâre doing. We are disabled or handicapped too. Amanda has Spastic Cerebral Palsy. Eric has High Functioning Autistic. If you want to know more about us, Amanda wrote a very powerful paper about âBeing Handicappedâ. Just click on this link: http://beinghandicappedessay.blogspot.com.
In 2001, Amanda discovered poetry by an accident. In 2012, she thought of creating an online business: âPretty Petty Poetryâ. This version is a part of our business.
Amanda has over 1,900 poems on her computer. Finding a touching poem that will move non-disabled people is difficult.
We are very aware to those non-handicapped people feelings. If we offer or hurt your feelings, we are very sorry. But, it is time to say how we, the handicapped, really feel.
We decide on this one because it speaks to us on so many levels. Enjoy.
Endurance
By-Amanda D. Petty
No walking, just rolling.
No standing, just sitting.
No freedom, just trapped.
Teasing,
Mocking,
Pointing fingers.
No relief, just hurting.
No speaking clearly, just impaired speech.
No dancing, just graceless motion.
Called evil names,
Picked on,
Breaking.
No normal life, just disabled.
No comfort, just surgeries.
No holding still, just involuntary movement.
Handicapped.
