Pretty Pettyâs Poem for the Disabled
Hello Pretty Pets, how are you doing?
Let us introduced ourselves: weâre Amanda D. Petty and Eric Brown, and weâre poets. This is a very special issue or version that weâre doing. We are disabled or handicapped too. Amanda has Spastic Cerebral Palsy. Eric has High Functioning Autistic. If you want to know more about us, Amanda wrote a very powerful paper about âBeing Handicappedâ. Just click on this link: http://beinghandicappedessay.blogspot.com.
In 2001, Amanda discovered poetry by an accident. In 2012, she thought of creating an online business: âPretty Petty Poetryâ. This version is a part of our business.
Amandaâs professor gave her an assignment about handicapped or disabled. Before this business, she was very shy about being handicapped and that wonât change. But, doing this issue, she can be herself. This poem is one of her favorites. Enjoy.
I Am Here
By-Amanda D. Petty
Can you look past my handicap for once?
I am here; real emotions,
Weak bones can be loved,
But, you just see my wheels.
Why canât you see the real me?
I am here; free soul,
Singing spirit,
But, you see a broken body.
Reach beyond yourself and see what you donât know.
Lecturing you to see the real beauty from inside.
Feeling pain: emotional and physical, just hurts.
But, you use the devil acts still.
Can you view me, as a person?
I am here; passionate by trade,
Succoring people,
But, you just see my motor.
Why canât you observe me?
I am here; trying to live,
Trying to be cheerful,
But, you donât SEE me.
Why?
An Uplifting Note: We truly want to thank you for reading this. Weâre promising, we do know how you truly feel. It will get better, donât give up. We know some days are bad: physical or emotional or both. On those days, you want to die. We know that firsthand; what help us the most is God. We hope this issue will help you. Just donât give up. Heavenly Father knows your pains; maybe thatâs why weâre here, giving you strength for a new hour. We have a song for you; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKaonWdYghw.
