Pretty
Pettyâs Poem for the Disabled
Hello Pretty Pets, how are you doing?
Let us introduced ourselves: weâre Amanda, James, Anna, Tim,
Abdul, Jasmine, Erin, and Osinachi; weâre poets. This
is a very special issue or version that weâre doing. James, Tim, and I are
disabled or handicapped too.
If you want to know more about us, Amanda
wrote a very powerful paper about âBeing Handicappedâ. Just click on this link:
http://beinghandicappedessay.blogspot.com. In 2001, Amanda discovered poetry by
an accident. Iâll be doing this issue.
If Only I
Could
By-Amanda D. Petty
If only I could walk again, my career would
be a performer. You see, I love music and I would be a Pop/R&B dancer for
my favorite group.
If only I could be normal, I would be a
mother. I canât have kids because I canât take care of myself. In the next
life, I will have children.
When I was just a baby, I drowned. Because
of that, Iâm living in a power wheelchair. Iâve had 12 or more surgeries
throughout my lifetime. Yes, I do get disappointed once in a while. But, who doesnât?
If only I could speak clearly, my career
would be a singer. I love just melodies and I would be a Pop/R&B singer.
If only I could be normal, I would be a
teacher. I love to teach the youth about the handicapped people.
You know what? I am all of these things.
An Uplifting: We
truly want to
thank you for reading this. Weâre promising, we do know how you truly feel. It
will get better, donât give up. We know some days are bad: physical or
emotional or both. On those days, you want to die. We know that firsthand; what
help us the most is God. We hope this issue will help you. Just donât give up.
Heavenly Father knows your pains; maybe thatâs why weâre here, giving you
strength for a new hour. My friend, we really do know how you feel.
